Avery is a small community located about 4 miles below Arnold. The elevation is about 3400 feet which is below the heavy snow line. Avery Middle School, which was built in 1994, is located here and serves about 411 students in the 6th, 7th and 8th grade levels. You can also find the Avery Transfer Station in Avery, the location for dropping off your household waste. The main residential area is Ebbetts Pass Highlands, which is accessed from Sheep Ranch Road. There is currently no active homeowner’s association but the properties are subject to C.C.& R’s. There are also a few side roads in the Avery area, many of which provide a more rural flavor. Homes in this area generally receive their water from Calaveras County Water District and they are on individual septic systems.
