The Big Trees Village area has a wonderful mountain atmosphere. Located at an elevation of approximately 5000 feet, and about 7 miles above Arnold, this area receives approximately twice the amount of snow as the Arnold area. Homeowners in Big Trees Village have the option of joining the recreation association to enjoy access to their two swimming pools, two tennis courts, shuffleboard, horseshoes, athletic field, snack bar, game area, children’s playground, picnic and barbecue areas. The facilities are open from Memorial Day to Labor Day and the dues runs about $150 per year. The homes here are on individual septic systems and access their water through Calaveras County Water District. The roads in Big Trees Village are county-maintained which includes snow-plowing in the winter. Winter sports enthusiasts are only 18 miles from Bear Valley Mountain Resort, a great family spot for downhill and cross-country skiing and snowboarding.
